What’s the easiest and most painless way to get un-addicted to caffeinated beverages?

I was reading another question on here about someone who can’t get through their day without coffee. People were saying that if you quit you will notice a big difference in your metabolism plus other benefits. I am a loyal Mountain Dew drinker and have to have it every morning or else I don’t feel right. I know I am addicted to the caffeine and I can’t imagine ever being able to successfully quit. My question is, how do you make it through the withdrawal period and suffer through those headaches in order to get un-addicted to caffeine?
