Tutorial: Using Tokens

Caffeinated Content for WordPress has a number of tokens available to use in your post and comment templates. All you have to do is insert the token in your template where you wish the content to appear.

Post Tokens

Use these in your post templates.

[title] – Post title.
[date] – Post date.
[who] – Post author.
[video] – YouTube video. Only works in YouTube mode.
[post] – Post text (Question for Yahoo Answers, description for YouTube, main content for articles and your own files).
[resourcebox] – Resource box text. Only works in Articles mode.
[image] – Random image based on keyword. Only works in Yahoo Answers mode.
[link] – Random link from the links.txt file (see link files).

[rewrite_post] – Rewritten post text using Markov chains.
[l_rewrite_post] – Subtle yet effective post rewriting using language translation techniques.
[b_rewrite_post] – A little less subtle post rewriting using language translation techniques.

[trans:ln]your text here[/trans] – Translate the text between the tags, using Google Translate, from English to a different language. Your mileage may vary due to Google’s translation limitations! Also, this WILL break HTML markup so be sure that only text is being included between the [trans] tags. Replace ln with the language of your choice:

Tutorial: Editing Templates

The template system used by Caffeinated Content is both simple to use and very powerful. By using text, HTML and a variety of tokens, you can format, translate and rewrite content in any way you want.

The templates, stored in the template directory, have a “.p.txt” extension for posts and “.c.txt” for comments. (Kinda logical, isn’t it?)

Caffienated Content for WordPress comes with an extensive set of default templates for straight, unadulterated posts and comments and also for translating and rewriting content.

Here’s details of the tokens available to you. Please check out our demonstrations for examples of what Caffienated Content can do.

Demo 5: Yahoo Answers – Non-English

Caffeinated Content can not only post content into WordPress from the English language Yahoo Answers site, but can scrape YA in other languages too.

As with the first four demonstrations this content is not translated or rewritten in any way.

Demo 4: Own Text Files – Straight

Caffeinated Content can also publish content from your own text files, combined with the translation and rewriting functions this gives you another powerful way to generate content.

Keyword “caffeine” – Text Files – Straight

Typical example: Caffeine – Wikipedia

Caffeinated Content posts text files directly from the text folder in your CaffeinatedContent directory. The plugin will search the file names for your keyword and the first line will be treated as the title. You can add author names and categories by including “Author:name” and “Category:name” respectively. If you don’t specify a category in the file Caffeinated Content will use the keyword as the category. Tags are created based on the frequency of keywords in the content.

For this example I have taken a section of the Wikipedia entry for “caffeine” and saved it as caffeine.txt. The file is as follows:

I created a very basic template, using the [post] token. The post category was left as “COMPUTED” in order to use the category specified in the text file.

Caffeine is a bitter white crystalline xanthine that acts as a psychoactive stimulant drug and a mild diuretic (speeds up urine production)[3] in humans and other animals. Caffeine was discovered by a German chemist, Friedrich Ferdinand Runge, in 1819. He coined the term ?kaffein?, a chemical compound in coffee, which in English became caffeine.[4] Caffeine is also called guaranine when found in guarana, mateine when found in mate, and theine when found in tea; all of these names are synonyms for the same chemical compound.

Caffeine is found in varying quantities in the beans, leaves, and fruit of some plants, where it acts as a natural pesticide that paralyzes and kills certain insects feeding on the plants. It is most commonly consumed by humans in infusions extracted from the cherries of the coffee plant and the leaves of the tea bush, as well as from various foods and drinks containing products derived from the kola nut. Other sources include yerba mate, guarana berries, and the Yaupon Holly.
